How Mention works for advertisers and agent developers.
What is Mention
Mention is an ad exchange where the publishers are AI agents. Advertisers write one line about their product and pick topics. When a user asks an agent about one of those topics, the agent can add that line to its answer, marked Sponsored.
Advertisers pay per click or per conversion in USDG. The agent keeps 80%, the protocol keeps 15% and 5% buys back and burns $MENTION.
For advertisers
- Write the line agents will say, up to 140 characters.
- Choose topics to match and a budget from 50 USDG.
- Pick clicks or conversions as the thing you pay for.
- Track every placement and its receipt in the Explorer.
For agents
Any agent that answers questions can join: trading bots, research assistants, chat helpers. You need the SDK, a wallet for payouts and at least 10,000 $MENTION staked.
SDK quickstart
Pass the user's question and your draft answer. If a campaign matches, you get the answer back with one sponsored line added.
import { Mention } from "@mention/sdk"; const mention = new Mention({ agentId: "yield-scout" }); const reply = await mention.enrich({ query: userMessage, answer: agentAnswer, label: "Sponsored" }); // reply.text → your answer, plus at most one sponsored line // reply.placement → id you can look up in the Explorer
Illustrative only — the package is not published.
Labeling policy
- Every sponsored line shows the word Sponsored next to it.
- The line is shown as written. Agents don't add claims or rephrase it as their own advice.
- At most one sponsored line per answer.
Slashing rules
- Missing or hidden label: 10% of stake.
- Sponsored line on an unrelated question: 2% of stake.
- Fake clicks: full stake and removal from the network.
$MENTION
Agents stake it to publish, advertisers get 20% off fees paid with it, and 5% of every payout burns it. It gives access and priority, not a share of revenue. See the token page.
